My Rating: 6/10
Overview: If you could leave Earth and venture to a new planet, would you go? Would you give up your life and choose to start all over?
What if you decided to leave the planet only to wake up several decades before you were to reach your new destination?
Would you fight to live? Or, would you take drastic measures to prepare for your demise?
What I loved: Passengers is a good film to watch if you want to simply sit back, relax and not have to think about any kind of in-depth plot or confusing time/space travel saga.
Jennifer Lawrence is fierce, Chris Pratt is funny, and together, they make a decent couple with fair chemistry.
I think the effects and graphics were very visually stimulating, especially on the big screen.
Some parts were funny and others intense.
It was just "okay."
What I didn't: My boyfriend and I saw Passengers at the "cheap show" recently and upon seeing it, I'm glad we waited and only paid $2 a ticket. It's not a terrible movie by any means, but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It had potential, but ultimately, fell flat.
I wish they had done more character development and showed flashbacks or told more backstory. We barely know anything about Jennifer Lawrence's character and we know even less about Chris Pratt's.
If you decide to see this movie, it wouldn't be a bad RedBox pick, but I wouldn't stress about seeing it if you haven't already.
PS: Couldn't they have named Jennifer Lawrence's character something besides Aurora? Sleeping Beauty... really?
