Overview: Ethan Burke, Secret Service, awakens in Wayward Pines, Idaho after a severe car accident. His reason for being in Wayward Pines in the first place? He needs to try and find two missing agents.
It's unique and creative and keeps you guessing every chapter. There are many twists and turns which will wow and amaze you, as they did for me. Also, the majority of the book contains action sequences, you'll rarely be bored. Pines is a perfect mixture of sci-fi, mystery and thriller.
Ethan Burke is a great main character, you can't help but root for him to find his way out of Wayward Pines.
I cannot wait to start books #2 and #3 and also start the TV series based on the books!
What I didn't: For any sci-fi title, it's necessary to suspend belief in order to understand and appreciate the story, however, there were some pieces of dialogue and character actions in the beginning of the book that I simply couldn't wrap my head around. It seemed strange Blake would write Agent Burke to behave the way he had in the beginning of the story. However, as the story progressed, I didn't come across any additional head-scratching segments.
What I loved about listening: Paul Michael Garcia does a great job of picking up the speed and animation during the action sequences. His voice brings life to Ethan's character to life.
What I didn't love about listening: At times, the narrator was a little monotonous. It took a little time to adjust to his voice and style. Also, I didn't particularly like his female voices, luckily there aren't too many female lines in this book.
