Overview: Lex, a 16-year-old grim reaper, finds herself in even more dangerous situations than she ever thought possible. And that's saying something considering she kills people for a living.
Now, an outlaw amongst her peers and fellow reapers, Lex , her uncle and the other Juniors, must race against time and a rogue reaper, Zara, to prevent her from murdering anyone else in the Grimisphere.
What I loved: Scorch, the sequel to Croak, definitely did not disappoint.
I found myself growing increasingly attached to the characters this time around including Lex, her boyfriend, Driggs, and the other Juniors. As in Croak, the plot is fast-paced, exciting, fun, and easy to read quickly.
The story becomes deeper and more intriguing with every chapter, and I couldn't put it down during certain stretches of the book.
Gina Damico, does a fantastic job bringing the characters, plot and scenery to life with her descriptive and adventerous writing. I felt like I was right there with the reapers, exploring the Grimisphere and going after Zara too.
I wasn't sure if Croak could be topped, but Scorch absolutely surpassed my expectations.
Again, if you love Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, etc, this series is absolutely for you!
Now, on to Rogue (Croak #3)! I'm excited to finish the series, but I'm sure I'll also be sad to see it end.
What I didn't: Seeing as how Croak is a YA series, I felt some of the scenes and circumstances in Scorch were a little more mature than I would have preferred for the characters' age group. Or, maybe I'm just getting old myself, and it creeps me out to think about teenagers wanting to get it on!
Also, at times, some of the dialogue did get a little cheesey, but I enjoyed it all the same.
