Overview: The epic story of our favorite series continues in Episode VII, The Force Awakens. Many new faces team up with old friends to once again to take on the dark side with hopes of keeping peace in the galaxy.
A generation ends, a new one begins and the Force is awakened.
What I loved: If you happened to read my article about the Star Wars fandom, you would know I really like the series, but it's not at the top of my list. However, after binging on episodes IV through VI this week, I was totally pumped for the new movie, and Disney did NOT disappoint.
Hearing the music and seeing the yellow text scroll down, I couldn't contain my excitement. With all of the hype surrounding the film, I was hoping it would live up to my expectations, and it definitely did.
There is a new level of comedy in VII and I laughed out lot during many scenes. And the special effects? Jaw-dropping. The Force Awakens is absolutely visually stunning. I think seeing the movie in 3D, IMAX or D-Box would be even better.
This film is amazing, simply put. I enjoyed all of the new characters and was extremely happy to see the old faces too. Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, is by far my new favorite character. She's beautiful, smart and kick-ass. Her character really made the new story and proved girls can play with the boys.
The always-present theme of good versus evil is prominent in Force as well. There is inner-turmoil within characters and naturally between the First Order and the Resistance. However, I felt myself rooting for one particular evil character, hoping they would see the error of their ways and come back into the light.
Disney and J.J. Abrams did a phenomenal job with The Force Awakens and I cannot wait until the next movie is released!!!
What I didn't: I didn't have many complaints, but there were a few things that lingered with me after the credits rolled..
I would have liked to have more information regarding the First Order and Lord Snoke . How did they become so powerful? What has happened in the years since VI ended? I don't like having unanswered questions damnit! I'm hoping answers will be given in the next two sequels.
